Whose light have I been invited to notice this week—and who might need me to remind them that they are still carrying it?

Stories from the Bridge

A few evenings ago, I was walking as the sun was beginning to set.

The path ahead was growing dim, and the long shadows reminded me that daylight was almost gone.

Then I noticed something simple.

The people walking toward me were still fully lit by the evening sun.

They couldn’t see the light behind them.
But I could.
It made me wonder how often this happens in our lives.

We become so aware of the shadows in front of us that we forget the light we are already carrying.

Sometimes it takes another person to gently remind us.
“I see your courage.”
“I see your kindness.”
“I see your faith.”
“I see the gift you no longer recognize in yourself.”
Perhaps that is one of the quietest forms of accompaniment.
Not shining our own light.

Helping another person recognize the light that has been with them all along.

I’ve been wondering…

Whose light have I been invited to notice this week—and who might need me to remind them that they are still carrying it?
